Privacy policy

BuyOrFI is a buy-vs-rent calculator run by Five Talent Consulting, Inc., a Texas corporation ("we", "us"). In short: your numbers never leave your browser; Unlock sends only your license key to Gumroad.
What we don't collect
- No accounts and no sign-up.
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or ad scripts.
- No cookies set by BuyOrFI.
- The numbers you type into the calculator are never sent to us or anyone else. All math runs in your browser.
What stays on your device
BuyOrFI uses your browser's local storage to remember a few things on this device only:
buyorfi_theme: light or dark mode.buyorfi_license: your Scenario Pack license key and the date it was last checked.buyorfi_scenarios: the scenarios you save with the Scenario Pack.
We can't see this data. You can remove the license with the "Lock pack" button, or remove everything by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
The license check with Gumroad
When you click Unlock, your browser sends your license key and our product ID to Gumroad (api.gumroad.com) to confirm the purchase. After that, the site checks the key again at most once every 30 days. Like any web request, this lets Gumroad see your IP address and basic browser details. No calculator inputs or scenarios are sent.
Buying the Scenario Pack
Checkout happens on Gumroad, which is the merchant of record. Gumroad collects your payment and contact details under its own privacy policy. Gumroad shares order details with us, such as your email address and what you bought, so we can support your purchase and handle refunds. We don't sell this information or use it for advertising.
Hosting
The site is served by a hosting provider (Cloudflare). Like any web host, it may process standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use that data to track you.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
